Today, January 21, our Oakland Park Kiwanis members gathered for our regular meeting. The session was well attended, with members providing updates on the ongoing activities and accomplishments of their respective committees. In addition to these updates, we were pleased to welcome two guest speakers to our meeting.
The first photo below features two of our members, Evi Profili and Jean McManus, who proudly display one of their beautifully crocheted blankets. These handcrafted blankets are donated to hospitals and camps, specifically supporting young people with special needs. The dedication and skill demonstrated by our members in creating these blankets is truly remarkable.
Michael Goldstein, member of Oakland Park Kiwanis, introduced our guest speakers, Judy and Bruce Borich of Middle River Press, as seen in the second photo. For those interested in writing and publishing books—whether memoirs, family histories, novels, poetry, or children’s literature—Middle River Press offers valuable resources and guidance. Members are encouraged to visit their website at www.middleriverpress.com. The presentation was engaging and informative for all who attended. ... See MoreSee Less
The Oakland Park Kiwanis members played an active role in supporting the City of Oakland Park during the citywide yard sale held on Saturday, January 10th.
Organization and setup efforts were coordinated by Kiwanis member Etta Lou Hanken, who arranged for members to arrive early and assist in preparing the park, beginning at 5:00 AM. In addition to their volunteer work, the club members also participated in the sale by setting up our own tables to offer treasured items from our homes.
Sincere thanks go out to the volunteer members of the Kiwanis club for their commitment and dedication, both to the City of Oakland Park and to the club’s fundraising activities. ... See MoreSee Less
